When Debord talks about separation, it is the society that is being separated from the truth. Therefore, what we are seeing is the false representation of society, as the spectacles are the only information being encoded onto society through the mass media, consequently the spectacle is the only information that we know.

These images are the result of capitalist approach to glorify the labour production of the consumer culture and maintaining social conformity towards the capitalistic regimen. In chapter one, Debord’s main argument argues that society is being mediated by images and these images produce false consciousness and distorts human rationality.
